All of these recipes take a piece of Magic (Blue) equipment as well as a Perfect Amethyst, a Jewel and a specific High Rune. To convert an Exceptional Unique Weapon to its Elite equivalent: Use a Lum, a Pul and a perfect Emerald To convert a Normal Unique Weapon to its Exceptional equivalent: Use a Sol, a Ral and a perfect Emerald To convert an Exceptional Unique Armor to its Elite equivalent: Use a Lem, a Ko and a perfect Diamond To convert a Normal Unique Armor to its Exceptional equivalent: Use a Shael, a Tal and a perfect Diamond Be careful not to up an item and no longer be able to equip it because you lack the now higher strength/dex requirements. Its a different recipe to go from normal to exceptional than it is to go from exceptional to elite. Items generally in all cases, but not always, have a normal version, an exceptional version and an elite version. This will give you the armor bonus from the higher item along with higher equip requirements. You can "up" the base item to battle gauntlets, but retain them as magefists. Say you have some magefists, which are light gauntlets. You can "up" the base item for uniques and rares. You can repair weapons with an ort the same way.
